Transfer deadline day: Tottenham sign Lucas Moura from PSG

Posted Febrero 03, 2018

Lucas Moura has revealed that Serge Aurier played a role in his decision to join Spurs from PSG.

"We did great last year and we're probably at a similar point to where we were".

"Exciting? No. We signed a player that is not playing at PSG".

"The most important thing is to play", said Lucas. Home draws with Burnley, Swansea, West Brom and West Ham highlighted a huge flaw in Spurs' attacking game in that they lack an out-and-out winger to take the game to opponents and either create chances for teammates or go for goal themselves.

"There's plenty of examples here - like Son [Heung-Min], Moussa Sissoko, [Erik] Lamela - that they need time. We can win a lot of things, and why not the Champions League?"

"He always gave his very best to try and help the team win", Al-Khelaifi added.

Seven years ago today, Liverpool paid a then-record fee of £22.8m to Ajax for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. He needed the chance to be a key figure for a team, so it was better for him to leave Paris. "He is my brother in football". That is so strong, the structure of the team. It's also a big club.

The Brazilian was his usual tricky self but when he saw a defender on the deck, he extended his hand to pick him up. Now we cannot put all in there, because we struggle a little bit with the list because that situation is the reality. "I am so happy", Lucas, desperate for first-team action, said in a video posted on Tottenham's Twitter feed.

In an interview with PSG TV, Brazilian superstar Neymar has dealt a blow to Real Madrid's hopes of signing him next summer.

The deal went through shortly before the German transfer window deadline at 1700 GMT, once Giroud's move to Chelsea had been completed.
