Chargers DE rips 'bum' Dak Prescott on Twitter after win over Cowboys

KEY STAT: The Cowboys went 10 quarters without a touchdown from the first quarter against the Atlanta Falcons' loss to the fourth quarter against Los Angeles, when Rod Smith scored on a two-yard run. After the game, Chargers defensive end Chris McCain kept the heat on the Pro Bowl signal caller, tweeting that Prescott was a "bum" and telling him to "watch his mouth". The streak set a new franchise record, the exact kind of achievement that a team wants to avoid. Soon after, with just under eight minutes remaining, Chargers cornerback Desmond King intercepted a pass and rolled 90 yards for a touchdown to give Los Angeles its margin of victory. Since then, opponents had outscored the Cowboys 80-9 before Smith's score.

Keenum completed 21 of 30 passes for 282 yards. "The Cowboys are out of timeouts and out of hope, really", Nantz declared with the Chargers up by the 22 points that would be the final margin. Approaching age 37 and continuing to recover from a back injury he suffered in the 2016 preseason, Romo moved on from football in April when he announced his retirement.

Regardless, Prescott is going to have take more chances down the field in the passing game. The defense did its usual third-quarter disappearing act, which means the odds are pretty good the Cowboys will fail to win double-digit games in consecutive seasons for the 21st consecutive season. Two plays later Rivers found Allen on a skinny post route for the hard-fought first down.

But Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw incomplete on the two-point conversion attempt and the Chargers maintained a 16-6 lead. One of the reasons for Prescott's poor performance was of course the San Diego pass rush.

The Chargers return home to face the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 3 at Stub Hub Center.
