Zinedine Zidane unsure when injured Gareth Bale will return

The 28-year-old will remain on the sidelines for Saturday's LaLiga trip to Getafe but Zidane rejected the notion that reported interest from Manchester United should have persuaded the reigning Spanish and European champions to cash in at a time when France sensation Kylian Mbappe was on the market.

Zidane watched on as his troops passed their way through the session at their Valdebebas training base in Madrid.

In attack, Karim Benzema is set to return to the starting line-up after recovering from injury.

Scans, however, soon revealed he had injured his calf and forced him out of Wales's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Ireland.

It did not give an estimated date for his return, and Zidane was unable to clarify the situation.

Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't had the same impact that he normally has in La Liga, and the Portuguese forward is still yet to get off the mark for Real Madrid in the league this season. I can't tell you when or how, but he's better.

Madrid face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, and Zidane told a news conference: "I hope Keylor is not injured for many days. Now we have to take it easy with him and be patient".

The contract of Didier Deschamps expires in 2018 and Zidane is aware that he is one of the most reliable candidates to take over the Blues after the World Cup. Meanwhile Real Madrid could keep the pace on league leaders Barcelona in what was a tightly contested title race.

Bale, 28, has missed a third of Real's games since he joined the club in a then world record move for 100 million euros ($118 million).

Real have won their last seven encounters with Getafe, scoring 30 goals and conceding six in the process.

Getafe's main man this season has been Angel Rodriguez, who is the team's top scorer with 3 goals this season. "That's it. He's okay, relaxed and he knows that those who are dealing with his recovery are doing things perfectly", Zidane said.

Left back Marcelo is coming back to training but hasn't fully recovered from his injury, and Dani Carvajal is absent.
